Thanks for that reply. I’m sure there’s an interesting study to be done on the path that successful, high-growth countries follow in this regard. Korea looks like it has made the transition. Singapore is desperately trying to become “creative”, whatever that means.
They all recognize that visible culture and creativity are essential building blocks of a modern, advanced economy. Not least in that it’s an expected part of the society that high-achieving people want to live in (see Richard Florida passim).
