Don’t miss the article skimmer

February 17th, 2009

The prototype article skimmer interface for The New York Times is fabulous. I don’t know why I’d ever return to the home page.

There’s an introduction and explanation on the Times’ own First Look blog. The keyboard shortcuts are brilliantly implemented.

If you get the nytimes emailed to you, those little synopses appear in your inbox every morning. this way you can even skip that skimming interface because everyone goes to their email first, right?

    Be like that.

I’ll stick with the Skimmer. I wouldn’t want to subscribe to the various emails — world, business, technology, sports, etc — and it’s more convenient to have them all on one web page.

As I understand the Skimmer, the stories also update as the NYT is updated, which is on a constant cycle, not just daily.

I think we have to settle this over a game of tennis.

    Game on!
